UnitLedgerDocumentation

Property finance & community management — installation, licensing, and day-to-day usage for the whole app.

What is UnitLedger?

UnitLedger is a self-hosted platform for managing properties, buildings, units, owners, residents, billing, payments, expenses, maintenance, and resident communication — built for property managers, building owners, and management companies who need a real billing/collections engine, not a spreadsheet with a login page.

This site covers everything a buyer needs after downloading UnitLedger:

  • Installation — server requirements, the step-by-step install wizard, license activation, and the queue/scheduler setup the app depends on.
  • Getting Started — your first login, how roles and permissions work, and the organization/license settings every admin should know about.
  • Guide — one page per module: properties, owners, residents, billing, payments, the ledger, collections, expenses, maintenance, documents, announcements, and the audit log.
  • Resident & Owner Portal — what the people you manage see when you give them a login.
  • Administration — backups, upgrading, and security notes for whoever runs the server.
  • Reference and the FAQ — a route map, a glossary of terms, and quick answers to common questions.

Where this documentation comes from

Every page here is written directly against UnitLedger's actual routes, controllers, and configuration — not the aspirational feature list. Where a capability is planned but not yet built (for example, a live payment gateway or an in-app updater), the relevant page says so explicitly instead of describing something that doesn't exist yet.
